NEW PRODUCT
Check Out The Updated Magno Lumina Max Lamp!
The Magno Lumina Max Lamp is an ideal light for those with low vision because it allows users to select the optimal light color temperature and brightness level they need to maximize their viewing environment. The lamp is available in a desktop and floor version and now provides more illumination and temperature options!
The updated Magno Lumina Max Lamp now uses super energy-efficient LEDs that are 30% brighter on average than before, provides 2 more brightness setting for a total of 7 choices and 2 more color temperature options for a total of 7 ranging from warm 2900K to a cool 6500K. The LEDs also produce a higher color rendering index (Ra) of 93% versus 85% so objects to appear more like they do in natural sunlight.
Other improvements include a 65% longer lamp head which provides illumination over a wider area, a recessed diffuser over the LEDs which eliminates side glare when the lamp is positioned at eye level, a 20% stronger gooseneck arm which helps keep the arm in its desired position better, an easier base attachment method for the desktop model and a new floor model base that is 18% wider than before which provides more stability.

AWARENESS MONTH
May is UV Awareness Month!
Prevent Blindness has declared May Ultraviolet (UV) Awareness Month and has information available on the possible negative effects of UV exposure to the eyes and one’s vision. As preparations for the warmer months and more outdoor activities begins, it’s important to keep the eyes protected as extended exposure to ultraviolet rays can harm them.
To protect your patients’ eyes against UV damage, it’s best for them to use a brimmed hat and wear UV-blocking sunglasses when outdoors. Eschenbach carries a variety of UV-blocking eyewear that provide 100% UVA and UVB protection including our Ambelis® eyewear. Our newest Ambelis® Sport frames are lightweight, polarized and stylish - perfect for those staying active!

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT
Say Hi to Jeff!
Jeff has been the Southeast Territory Manager here at Eschenbach since 2018. He works closely with low vision providers in the sunny states of Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and southern Virginia to help them assist their patients with vision loss gain greater independence while also helping their practice/organization be more successful at the same.
Before joining our team, Jeff was in the pharmaceutical industry working in sales and marketing roles. When he's not visiting customers he enjoys a good round of golf on the weekend and hiking in the western NC Mountains. But his favorite past time lately is visiting with his granddaughter.
Thanks for all your hard work Jeff!

TIPS FROM TOM
Watch your time!
When using the E&M billing codes in the low vision clinic, tracking your time is critical to support the level of the exam. All the time spent by the eyecare provider (OD, MD, or DO) on the day of the patient visit influences the billing level. In prior years, only face-to-face time with the patient was counted, but since 2021 such activities as reviewing previous records, correspondence, and testing should be included. Activities such as coordination of care, completing various forms, charting, and phone calls should also be documented. Refraction is still one activity that should not be included so any time spent refracting should be subtracted from total time.
Many electronic medical record (EMR) systems track time but if yours does not, be sure to document “time in and time out” with these various activities.
