SPACE CAMP
Each Student at Space Camp Trained Like a NASA Astronaut!
Our two sponsored Space Camp winners had to complete many tasks to help their team complete their mission at the Space Camp for Interested Visually Impaired Students (SCIVIS). One of the team projects was an Extra-Vehicular Activity (EVA) in the 5 Degrees of Freedom (5DF) Chair building an ACCESS tower. This 5DF chair is a specialized simulator used to mimic the movements experienced during the frictionless environment of space. Just one of the many simulations the students got to try at Space Camp.
See more of their exciting journey on our website at www.eschenbach.com/about-us/giving-back.

AWARENESS MONTH
AMD and Low Vision Awareness Month!
February is Age-related Macular Degeneration/Low Vision Awareness Month with the goal of educating the public about AMD and low vision, as well as providing resources for them to reference if they are living with a visual impairment. AMD is the most common cause of severe loss of eyesight among people 50 and older.
If you have patients with macular degeneration and are not yet offering them low vision care to maximize their remaining vision and improve their quality of life, we can help provide you and your staff with the products, training and support you’ll need to help your patients live more independently and enjoy their hobbies again.
Request a Meeting with your Local Territory Manager to learn how to add this effective (and profitable) service!

TIPS FROM SABRINA!
Low vision care is never just about eyesight. It’s about people. People who are grieving, frustrated, anxious, and often exhausted from hearing, “There’s nothing more we can do.” When patients walk into a low vision clinic, they bring more than a visual impairment. They bring fear, loss of independence, and real emotional challenges.
That’s why kindness and empathy aren’t optional in low vision care. They’re essential. Patients need to feel safe enough to try, to hope, and to engage in the difficult work of learning how to use their vision differently. Vision loss can affect identity, work, relationships, hobbies, and confidence, and many patients arrive after multiple discouraging experiences elsewhere.
When patients feel rushed, dismissed, or uncomfortable, that emotional weight grows heavier. And when people don’t feel emotionally safe, they stop trying. Even the best technology or treatment plan can’t help if a patient disengages. In low vision care, kindness is clinical excellence, and it begins the moment a patient walks through the door. - Dr. Sabrina Steed, Geisinger Medical Center, PA
