HEALTHY AGING MONTH

September is Healthy Aging Month!
While vision loss is not necessarily a normal part of aging, older adults are at higher risk for certain eye diseases and conditions, including age-related macular degeneration and cataracts. Early detection by an eye doctor is critical to saving their eyesight.

Make sure your patients are taking care of their eyes as they get older and continue to see you for regular eye exams. And if they do experience vision loss, remember that Eschenbach has a variety of low vision aids you can offer that can help them accomplish their activities of daily living and keep them independent and improve their quality of life.

It’s One Month Until Space Camp!
Our two sponsorship winners will be attending the Space Camp for Visually Impaired Students for free next month at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Alabama. The Camp is a week-long experience specifically designed for students who have a visual impairment and is coordinated by teachers of the visually impaired. Throughout the week, the students will be immersed in astronaut training techniques using equipment adapted from NASA’s astronaut program which was made accessible for visually impaired students to participate fully!
