LOW VISION AWARENESS MONTH
February is Low Vision Awareness Month!
Did you know that millions of people (by some estimates, over 20 million in the US alone) have irreversible vision loss from diseases like macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy? Fortunately, most can be helped with a specialty service YOU can offer—low vision care. Check out resources the National Eye Institute offers to help you educate your patients about low vision and what can be done to help them (learn more ONLINE HERE!).
And if you are already offering low vision care to your macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy patients to complement the other treatments they are receiving, be sure to contact your Eschenbach Territory Manager for additional resources (posters, brochures, etc.) that you can use to educate your other patients about the specialty service you offer. They (and/or their older relatives) may also benefit from the service.
If you have macular degeneration patients and are not yet offering them low vision care, now is the time to start. This service is so effective and important that the American Academy of Ophthalmology states it is a standard of care that should be provided to those with an acuity of 20/40 or worse. Eschenbach can help you get started in offering low vision care successfully. Contact your local Territory Manager today to learn how to add this effective (and profitable) service!
