Losing Sight is NOT a Normal Part of Aging
Just because patients get older doesn’t mean they will all lose their vision. But they are certainly more likely to get age-related eye diseases which can cause vision loss.
Fortunately, low vision devices can maximize their remaining vision so they can remain independent and have a high quality of life. Make sure your patients are taking care of their eyes as they get older (seeing you for regular eye exams, etc.) and that you are offering treatments when necessary, but also remember to offer them low vision aids to complement that treatment!
