GLAUCOMA AWARENESS MONTH!
January is National Glaucoma Awareness Month
Currently, more than 3 million people in North America have glaucoma. The National Eye Institute projects this number will reach over 4.2 million in the U.S. alone by 2030, a 58 percent increase. The Glaucoma Research Foundation states that glaucoma is called “the sneak thief of sight” since there are no symptoms and as much as 40% of vision can be lost without a person noticing. Because of this, glaucoma is one of the leading causes of low vision and is, in fact, the leading cause of preventable blindness.
Fortunately, as is the case for those with other eye diseases and conditions that cause vision loss, patients with glaucoma can be helped with low vision devices - even if they are being treated. Magnification devices and filters are commonly dispensed low vision aids, but a number of glaucoma patients can benefit from minifiers or field expanders due to their decreased fields of view.

Introducing Taron Sutcliffe - Eschenbach's New CFO!
After 26 years of service, Craig Keith, Eschenbach's former Vice President of Operations and Treasurer has retired, though he will continue to work for the company on a consulting basis until March 31, 2017. We are saddened to see him go, but we are excited to announce the appointment of Taron Sutcliffe as our new Chief Financial Officer. Taron joins us from a long career in progressive accounting, financial and operational roles with experience in the consumer packaged goods and pharmaceutical packaging industries. Originally from South Africa, Taron has lived and worked in the U.K. before emigrating to the United States. She has a bachelor's degree from the University of South Africa and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
Taron is a critical addition to our management team and will be leading our financial and logistics teams to greater levels of efficiency and productivity into the future.
