“Lux” Stand Magnifiers!

Did you know that Eschenbach carries an assortment of unique LED illuminated stand magnifiers that are popular with many practitioners? This month, we're reminding everyone about our Powerlux line of illuminated stand magnifiers which features an innovative design and award-winning shape! Based on the design of a computer mouse, the magnifier is comfortable to use and is available with two types of SMD LED illumination: cool blue or warm yellow. The aspheric lens includes a protective cera-tec® coating and is available in three powers: 3.5x, 5x and 7x. It also includes an automatic shut-off feature that turns off the device after 30 minutes. This helps to extend the battery life and reduces usage costs!

When you purchase two Powerlux magnifiers, you can get an attractive table-top display FREE!

 EYE DISEASE AWARENESS

November is Diabetic Eye Disease Month!

Prevent Blindness has declared November as Diabetic Eye Disease Awareness Month to help educate the public on the effects that diabetes has on vision including causing diabetic retinopathy and other types of diabetic eye disease.

Today, more than 8 million Americans have diabetic retinopathy, with that number expected to jump in the coming years. Be sure to educate your patients about the risk factors and steps they can take to prevent this eye disease. And if they already have the disease, be sure to tell them about how the low vision devices you offer can help them maximize their remaining vision!

 LOW VISION

Ophthalmology Association Makes Vision Rehabilitation a Standard of Care!

The CEO of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) recently stated in a video announcement that “Vision rehabilitation is now the standard of care for patients who are losing their vision.”  The video goes on to define low vision as “visual acuity <20/40, scotoma, field loss or contrast sensitivity loss.” (Check out the video here!)

With this announcement, ophthalmologists will be identifying a much greater number of macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy patients as candidates for low vison care since the standard says it’s for anyone with an acuity worse than 20/40.

Eschenbach is an ideal resource for those wishing to get started in offering this valuable service through our turnkey Low Vision Program which includes training, consultative support and a diagnostic assortment of devices. Contact us now so that you’re ready to help this influx of new low vision patients!
